Summer 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of a vibrant and busy half-term, it has been wonderful to see so many moments bringing our school community together. I hope that our weekly news and events updates, along with the fabulous Seesaw posts, give you a small window into the many learning opportunities your children experience throughout their time at school.

A huge well done to our Year 6 children, who approached their tests with such a positive mindset this week—we are incredibly proud of their attitude and resilience. Our Reception class also wowed us with their joyful carnival performance, full of confidence and smiles.

We have a jam-packed Summer Term 2 ahead, with lots more to look forward to, so please do keep checking the school calendar for key dates. Finally, a big thank you to our fantastic Parent Teacher Community Group for organising such a brilliant school disco—it was enjoyed by everyone!

We wish you all a restful and enjoyable half-term break, and we look forward to welcoming the children back for another exciting term.

Warm regards,
Claire Hammond
Headteacher

Message from Mrs Morris

It is hard to believe that I have already completed my first half-term at Bel Royal! I would like to take this opportunity to thank the whole school community for such a warm and generous welcome. It has been a pleasure getting to know the children, staff and families.

I have been particularly struck by how strongly our values of Achieve, Believe and Include are lived out each day — in classrooms, on the playground and through the many opportunities our pupils experience. There is a real sense of pride, ambition and kindness in the school. My days are frequently brightened by children coming to visit me having been awarded Core Value beads!

There is much to look forward to throughout the rest of the Summer Term, and I am confident that together we will ensure every child continues to thrive and succeed.

Thank you again for your continued support, and I hope you have a wonderful half-term break.

Our School Mascot – Pupil Voice in Action
We have been incredibly impressed by the thoughtful and meaningful mascot ideas submitted by our pupils. These designs beautifully captured what Bel Royal means to them, reflecting our values of kindness, community, creativity and resilience. It has been heartening to see such care and pride taken in representing our school identity.

It was very difficult to choose an overall winner as every design and idea was unique.

I am pleased to present our chosen design and our new school mascot creation by Zosia. Our Bel Royal Queen Bee – Belle!

Well done Zosia, we can't wait to introduce our new mascot to the community.

Ome TV Online-Safety Awareness

OmeTV is a random video chat platform connecting strangers. It advertises its purpose as being for social interaction and language practice. Like previous randomised video chat platforms, there are well-documented safeguarding concerns if children use it.

OmeTV has significant, well-documented age verification concerns due to its reliance on user self-reporting, allowing minors to easily access a platform meant for adults.

Beaulieu Insights

We are excited to invite parents from across the Island, to Beaulieu's next 'Beaulieu Insights' evening. Beaulieu Insights are a series of informative talks designed to support the parent community. We bring leading experts to Jersey to address topics that we feel are valuable to parents and are aimed at supporting your child’s well-being.

Beyond the Screen: Making Sense of Teen Life Online

Join us on Thursday, 11th June at 6:30pm, for a highly relevant discussion, 'Beyond the Screen: Making Sense of Teen Life Online', with Sarah Willing, Executive Director of YouMatter.

Sarah will explore:

☀Navigating the realities of life online for teenagers

☀Understand pressure, influence, image-sharing and consent

☀Learn how to keep communication open and supportive at home

The event is free and is open to all parents across Jersey. We would suggest parents of children in Year 5 all the way through to Secondary would benefit from this.

We look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be an insightful and empowering evening.
