Important Health Update – Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease
Dear Parents and Carers,
We would like to make you aware that we currently have three reported cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease within school. We have sought advice from Public Health and would like to share their guidance with you.
Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease is a viral illness, so there is no specific treatment to cure it. If your child develops a fever, paracetamol may be used to help manage their temperature and discomfort, following the recommended dosage for their age. Symptoms can include a fever and blisters on the hands, in the mouth and other areas of the body.
When should my child stay off school?
Children should remain at home if they have a fever or moist/weeping blisters. They can return to school when they are feeling well enough and their blisters have dried.
How can we help prevent the spread?
We kindly ask all parents and carers to support us in reducing the spread of infection by:
-
Encouraging children to wash their hands thoroughly and regularly, particularly after using the toilet and before eating.
-
Regularly cleaning frequently touched surfaces and toys.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation in helping us keep our school community safe and healthy. We will continue to monitor the situation and follow the advice provided by Public Health.
