KS2 Assembly Make the Call

On Wednesday, Key Stage 2 attended a safety assembly led by the Child Accident Prevention Team.

During the session, we heard important messages about how and when to call the emergency services or ask for help.

The children learned about the different emergency services and how to make a call if they are concerned for someone’s safety. The team also explained the seriousness and dangers of hoax calls and gave advice on how to help emergency services locate someone accurately in an emergency.

We heard about Cody, who bravely called the Jersey Coastguard after witnessing a man fall from his boat. It was a powerful reminder of how difficult it can be to recall key details in a stressful situation—such as the man’s location, the colour of his clothes and boat, and whether there was a buoyancy aid available.

At the end of the assembly, the children were challenged to learn their home address and postcode, and to pay close attention to their surroundings, including landmarks and any potential safety risks.
