Bel Royal School's 50th Anniversary

Our special visitors His Excellency Lieutenant Governor Vice Admiral Sir Jeremy Kyd KBE, Lady Kyd, Education Minister Rob Ward, Chief Officer of CYPES Keith Posner, Rachel Baxter, Connetable Deidre Mezbourian, former Headteachers Mr Cullinane, Mrs Burton and Mr Baudains, Mr De Luca.

On Friday we celebrated Bel Royal School's 50th Anniversary since it's official opening in 1975.

The afternoon started with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque in our KS2 playground by His Excellency The Lieutenant Governor.

Bel Royal was filled with nostalgia, colour, and plenty of smiling faces as the school opened its doors for an open afternoon themed “Travel Through the Decades.”

Each classroom prepared different activities representing the decade they had been assigned, from DIY Lava Lamps and tie-dye art in Nursery to Disco Bingo in Year 3 and future school headlines in Year 6.

We welcomed a number of special visitors, including former pupils, retired teachers, and long-standing members of the school community. Many spent the afternoon reminiscing about their time at Bel Royal, sharing memories with current staff and students while spotting familiar faces in old photographs and archive materials on display.

Parents and families joined the open-afternoon festivities as well, enjoying a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere. Refreshments were served throughout the event, with biscuits, pink lemonade and pineapple and cheese hedgehogs, proving especially popular among guests young and old.
